Santas Tinsel Trail 4 Nights 2016/2017

Our NEW resort of Olos is a truly Santastic setting nestled snugly on the Swedish border with miles of excellent cross-country trails and wonderful scenery. This makes it perfect for following our all new Santa's Tinsel Trail so take a look to see what's included on this special visit.

Lapland Holiday Itinerary

Day 1

Fly from your chosen UK airport to Kittila where you'll be met by our friendly staff and taken to your hotel for a welcome drink and dinner before turning in to dream of what lies ahead on this special trip.

Day 2

The Tinsel Trail begins, so wrap up warm and join in with our Arctic games, try your hand at a host of exciting activities including tandem skiing, lasso throwing and much more; remember to cheer on your family and friends! During the morning you'll have time to enjoy warm berry juice (Santa's favourite tipple) in front of a toasty campfire before more fun and excitement with a much awaited husky dog sled, reindeer sleigh and snowmobile ride and toboggan rides. After a much needed buffet lunch, the afternoon is yours to enjoy - perhaps take the opportunity to explore the captivating surroundings, join in on one of our many optional excursions, visit the kid's club or simply catch up on that all important snowman making. Then as night falls and the stars begin to twinkle, head into the forest for a festive sing song around the roaring campfire.

Day 3 & 4

More cosy hats and gloves needed as you continue the Tinsel Trail! You'll start the search for Santa, hunting for clues in a game of hide and seek through the enchanted forest to find his magic workshop where'll you'll be lending a special hand at making Christmas decorations and cards. Then of course you have to call in at Santa's Post Office where you can write and post your own letter to Santa. Of course, no visit to Lapland is complete without meeting some of Santa's cheeky littles Elves and you'll be visiting the Elf Bakery to help decorate Christmas cookies (and no doubt try some!), the Elf Academy (to learn the Elf song of course) and a guided tour through the Elves' house, listening to their many stories. You'll have further opportunities on day 4 to enjoy some additional optional excursions, followed by our fabulous Christmas Gala Feast and disco, plus the highlight of the evening, a visit from Santa with gifts for all!

Day 5

It's time to bid farewell to magical Lapland, so after breakfast pack your bags and check out of your rooms but there is still enough time for a last optional excursion or activity before a late morning departure to the airport for your flight home.

It's a wrap! Our Lapland Adventures will take you deep into the Arctic Circle, so we’ve included a ski suit and boots for each of our customers. However, you still need to wrap up with plenty of warm layers, thermals, and cosy hats and gloves are musts

Need To Know

What should I pack?

If you're coming to Lapland for the day, we recommend you wear warm clothes and only take hand luggage on the plane, as we'll lend you a cosy all-in-one thermal suit, as well as boots, gloves, socks and a hat. If you're on a 3 or 4-night trip, we'll still kit you out with all the necessary gear - which is yours for the duration of your holiday - but it's a good idea to bring lots of layers, too.

What’s the weather like?

In December, daytime temperatures generally range from 0 to -20 degrees, but it can fall as low as -40 during a particularly cold spell. You’ll get four to five hours of ‘grey light’ between about 10am and 3pm. The rest of the time it’s dark, but still quite bright because of all the snow. What’s more, all the activity areas are well lit.

What’s the food like?

It depends on where you stay, but most hotels in Lapland put on international buffet spreads. Usually, there’ll be a selection of meat, fish and pasta dishes to choose from, as well as a variety of vegetables and salad. You’ll also find children’s favourites, like chips, meatballs, and burgers on offer. And some places serve Finnish specialities, like smoked reindeer pizza.

Is Lapland suitable for young children?

We don’t recommend our Lapland trips for children under 4-years-old. That’s because the chilly temperatures and types of activities aren’t suited to really little ones. If you do bring toddlers along, though, you’ll need to provide their own thermal clothing.

Do I need insurance?

It’s essential you and your family have the protection you need in case the unexpected happens. What’s more, if you want to take part in any snow sports when you’re away, you’ll need a policy that covers you for these.

Can I drive a snowmobile?

If you want to get behind the wheel of a snowmobile, make sure you bring your full UK driving licence with you. As long as local guides agree, children aged 12 and over can ride as a passenger on your snowmobile. Younger children have to travel in a sleigh pulled by one instead.
