Balanced between the Chapel of St Mary and Levi Square, Levi Suites Levi Gold Apartments couldn’t get much more central. They neighbour the slopes, and are close to a selection of restaurants and bars.

The exterior of the hotel has the looks of a traditional Alpine ski lodge. Inside, though, it’s much more modern. Apartments feature spotlighting, contemporary furnishings, and the added bonus of a sauna.

Studios have a flatscreen TV, kitchenette, dining and lounge area. And there is the option of a studio with its own balcony and sauna.

This Lapland ski resort – in Finland’s northern fells – might be remote, but it certainly isn’t quiet. It’s one of Finland’s top places for skiing and snowboarding for a start, and the buzz continues off-piste in the bars and restaurants. There are also snowmobile safaris, reindeer rides, visits to Father Christmas – and a chance to see the Northern Lights.
